The Study of Precious Essences
Every substance in the laundry pearl, named and explained.

ONE PEARL, THE WHOLE FORMULA
The membrane disappears. The care remains.
A water-soluble membrane enclosing a laundry detergent of fine perfumery: plant-derived cleansing agents that lift dirt from the fibre, vegetable glycerin to keep fabric supple – and the Maison’s composed essence. One pearl washes and perfumes in a single gesture. No measuring, no second bottle of fabric conditioner.
THE FORMULA, LINE BY LINE
The ingredients and what they do
97% of natural origin. The full INCI list appears on every Écrin.
Aqua (water)
The base that carries and binds every other substance.
Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVOH)
The pearl’s water-soluble membrane. It dissolves completely during the wash, leaving nothing behind.
Plant-derived cleansing agents (Coco-Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside)
Gentle, biodegradable surfactants derived from coconut and plant sugars, which lift dirt and grease from the fibre.
Glycerin (vegetable)
A plant-derived humectant that keeps fibres supple and soft.
Sodium Citrate
A citrus salt that softens hard water so the cleansing agents can work fully.
Citric Acid
A fruit-derived chelating agent that binds minerals and brightens naturally – with no optical tricks.
Sodium Benzoate
A preservative found naturally in fruit, keeping the formula stable at a minimal dose.
Parfum (the composed essence)
The Maison’s fine-perfumery composition – pure essential oils and noble raw materials, built on base notes that cling to the fibre. Dermatologically tested, free from phthalates and parabens. Allergens declared below, fragrance by fragrance.

DESIGNED FOR DELICATES
Gentle on silk. Serious about stains.
Dermatologically tested and free from the usual irritants – no SLS or SLES, no optical brighteners, no chlorine, no dyes. Suitable for sensitive skin, babywear and silk. The formula was composed for delicates from the outset, not adapted afterwards; free from phosphates and chlorine, it is kind to septic tanks too.
NATURE, DECLARED
The allergens and their sources
These fragrance allergens are naturally occurring scent molecules – the very ones that make flowers, citrus peel and woods smell so good. A few people are sensitive to them, just as others are to peanuts. The Maison declares every one, essence by essence, in the interest of transparency.

GOOD QUESTIONS
Questions of substance
Is the formula really 97% of natural origin?+
Yes. The cleansing agents are plant-derived and biodegradable, the glycerin is vegetable and the essences are built on pure essential oils. The remaining fraction is there for stability and safety – and it is named above, not hidden.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin, babies and silk?+
The formula is dermatologically tested and free from the usual irritants – SLS, SLES, optical brighteners, chlorine, parabens, dyes. It is suitable for sensitive skin, babywear and silk. Anyone with a strong fragrance allergy should consult the allergen table above before use, or write to us at contact@davyn1371.co.uk.
Why no optical brighteners? My whites matter.+
Optical brighteners do not wash – they are fluorescent dyes that coat the fibre to mimic whiteness in daylight, and they can irritate the skin. The Maison prefers real cleanliness: plant-derived cleansing agents and citric acid, which brightens whites by removing the mineral veil rather than painting over it.
What does ‘Parfum’ hide?+
In most products, everything. Here, the least that perfumery law allows: the composition itself is the Maison’s signature and stays in the atelier, but every regulated allergen it contains is declared above, fragrance by fragrance; its raw materials contain no phthalates or parabens, and the full INCI list is printed on every Écrin. Transparency is a courtesy the Maison extends before being asked.
Is the pearl septic-tank safe and suitable for every washing machine?+
Yes. No phosphates, no chlorine – nothing that could harm a septic tank. The membrane dissolves completely and the pearl works in every washing machine: front-loading or top-loading, from 30 °C.
